Project Overview

In April 2026, Loopex Digital started providing Shopify SEO services to Colorado Cyclist, an online retailer selling bicycles, bike components, cycling apparel, and accessories. Its product range covers road cycling, mountain biking, gravel riding, and everyday commuting.

Goal

The business had been inactive for a period and relaunched under new ownership. That left the website with 3 issues:

  • Lost organic visibility. Only 6 keywords ranked in Google's top 10 after the relaunch, and monthly organic traffic sat at 303 visits.
  • A collection structure full of empty pages. Around 600 collection pages had no products in them, giving search engines thin pages to crawl instead of useful landing pages.
  • Products missing from Google Shopping. Merchant Center sync failures and incomplete product data kept most of the catalog out of Shopping results.

Our SEO team set 3 goals. First, rebuild the category structure around the products actually in stock. Second, get the catalog back into Google Shopping. Third, re-establish the brand's visibility in both traditional and AI search.

Solutions

Our SEO Team Ran a Post-Migration Technical Audit and Recovered Lost SEO Value

After the migration, our team ran a detailed technical SEO audit covering crawlability, indexing, redirects, canonicals, internal links, and site structure. Because the brand had been inactive, we also reviewed the historical pages to find which URLs still held backlink value.

We found several old pages with strong backlink profiles and restored them instead of letting that authority go to waste. The Bike Fit Guide was one example. The page had built up links over the years, so bringing it back preserved its SEO value and supported the site's authority in the cycling niche.

As part of our technical SEO services, our team then worked through the issues the audit found. We improved page speed, fixed broken 404 pages, implemented schema markup, added the missing meta descriptions, removed duplicate headings, and more.

Loopex Digital Team Cleaned Up the Collection Pages and Built a Stronger Category Structure

We reviewed the collection page structure to see which categories held enough inventory to support an SEO landing page. About 600 collections had no products, so we filtered those out and cleaned up pages that served neither users nor search engines.

After the cleanup, our team focused on the high-priority bike categories, starting with mountain bikes. We ran keyword research on the existing collections and identified new collection opportunities based on what was in stock.

We then optimized each collection page around the searches buyers actually run, improving the copy, metadata, headings, URLs, internal links, and page structure.

We Improved Internal Linking and Breadcrumbs Across the Key Categories

Our SEO team built a new internal linking and breadcrumb strategy, organized by category. The aim was to make the relationship between main bike categories, subcategories, collections, and individual products clear to both users and search engines.

Updating the breadcrumbs and internal links improved the crawl paths through the site and sent link equity to the collection pages that matter most for revenue.

Our SEO Team Fixed Google Merchant Center and Optimized the Product Pages

Most of Colorado Cyclist's products were missing from Google Shopping when we started. Our team worked through the full set of Merchant Center problems. We fixed the Shopify connection and feed sync failures, business information and shipping setup errors, an invalid checkout URL template, and missing or unavailable product page errors.

The Loopex Digital SEO team then filled the gaps in the product data itself. This covered missing titles, prices, GTINs and MPNs, brand attributes, age group, gender, color, and size. We also fixed the image errors blocking listings, including images that were too small, in unsupported formats, or carrying promotional overlays.

A further set of problems came from misclassification. Bike components had been flagged under categories including "Guns and Parts," tobacco products, and illegal drugs, alongside false healthcare claim flags and recalled product warnings. Our SEO experts corrected the Google Product Category assignments and cleared every false positive.

Finally, our team optimized the product pages based on competitor analysis by improving titles, technical specifications, and structured product information, and set up product ratings and Google customer reviews.

We Started a Mountain Bike-Focused Blog Strategy

To support the collection pages, our SEO team built informational content around mountain bike topics as part of our SEO content strategy development services. The articles answer the practical questions buyers ask before purchasing and link internally to the relevant collection and product pages. This blog strategy helped support topical authority around mountain bikes and create additional entry points for organic traffic.

Our Link Building Team Secured Niche-Relevant eCommerce Backlinks

Loopex Digital's link building services focused on placements on established eCommerce websites and cycling blogs with a clear connection to Colorado Cyclist's products and audience.

Guest posting was the main channel. Our team published high-quality articles on cycling and eCommerce publications where a mention of Colorado Cyclist fit the topic readers were already exploring. That kept the link between the publishing site, the article, and the brand clear to both readers and search engines.

Alongside the guest posts, we placed link insertions inside already published articles relevant to the business. These added placements on pages that already held authority and traffic.

Results

From 303 to 338 Monthly Organic Visitors

After the relaunch, average monthly organic traffic was 303 visits. After implementing post-migration fixes, collection page optimization, internal linking improvements, and product SEO updates, organic traffic rose to 338 monthly visits, an 11.6% increase.

From 6 to 38 Keywords in Google's Top 10

At the start of the project, the website had only 6 keywords ranking in the Top 10 positions, showing limited first-page visibility after the relaunch. After our SEO team implemented technical fixes, improved the site structure, optimized collection pages, and strengthened internal linking, top 10 keyword rankings increased to 38, a 533.3% increase.

The site now ranks 1st for "sixsixone," 2nd for "giro manifest," and 4th for "marin trail bike.”

More Products Appearing in Google Shopping

Product syncing problems and incomplete product data kept Colorado Cyclist largely invisible in Google Shopping at the start of the project. After our team fixed the syncing, corrected the misclassifications, and completed the product information, products started appearing far more often for specific bike models and cycling gear searches.

From 19 to 87 AI Responses Featuring Colorado Cyclist

As a result of our AI SEO services, the visibility across AI platforms grew from 19 responses to 87, and the number of pages referenced rose from 19 to 55. That means more of the site's content is now appearing in AI answers, not just the same few pages.

The largest gains came from Google AI Mode, up from 8 to 35 responses, and ChatGPT, up from 1 to 34. Appearances in Google AI Overviews increased from 4 to 9.

18 High-Quality Backlinks Acquired and Domain Rating Raised from 28 to 33

Our link building team acquired 18 backlinks from cycling-related eCommerce websites and blogs, raising the Domain Rating from 28 to 33. Every placement came from a source connected to the company's products and audience, which is what rebuilt authority in the cycling niche after the period of inactivity.
